I'd like to share with you that I have been working within the
area of psychology and people's emotional health ever since my first
job, which was in 1968 as an administrator in a Child Guidance Clinic
in Brighton, Sussex.
Although I was very successful in my career I had a lot of personal
problems. Since puberty I had suffered from night terrors, and in
my early twenties I developed an eating disorder - bulimia nervosa.
I attempted suicide when aged 26. When I became depressed again
a year later I had a choice to make - either to really kill myself
or to do whatever it would take to heal myself.
Fortunately I made the decision to live my life and in 1977 went
into therapy. My life took another turn in 1979 when I accidentally
fractured my sacrum (the area of the spine above the tailbone).
This experience took me into the field of complementary therapies,
including spiritual healing. I was very excited to learn that I
could myself sense subtle energies on and off the body. I finished
a social sciences degree I had begun in 1978 and retrained in healing,
holistic massage, and later psychotherapy.
Since 1983 I have run my own private practice. During the 1980s
I taught in several central London Adult Education Institutes, and
ran the first ever healing course in public adult education in England.
Throughout the 1990s I ran a private healer training school - The
Rowan School - with a colleague for ten years.
I continue to see individuals, couples, and run therapy and personal
development groups in North London and North West of England. I
am registered with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy
and receive regular professional supervision for all areas of my
work.
I have always enjoyed painting and drawing as a hobby but this
became a more serious venture of mine during the late 1990s when
I began to sell work from my therapy room in London. (See gallery
